HUFFY BICYCLES PARTNERS WITH TOGETHER WE RISE TO DONATE BIKES TO FOSTER FAMILIES ACROSS AMERICA
The only thing better than riding a bike, is riding with others. Whether it's a parent, spouse, child, sibling or friend, recreational biking is simply better … together. In fact, experts agree that biking with others provides emotional and physical benefits and allows people to strengthen their connections. During May 2019, National Bike Month, Huffy partnered with nonprofit Together We Rise to donate bikes to foster families across the US to encourage riding as a family on roads, trails or bike paths.

John Fowler, Huffy Senior Vice President of Product, Marketing and Design said, “At Huffy, we encourage people to get out and Live the Ride, and with more than 125 years of experience, we know people have more fun together. Since May is National Bike Month and Foster Care Awareness Month, we thought it was the perfect time to team up with Together We Rise so more kids and foster families can ride bikes, have fun and build wonderful memories together.”
Together We Rise is a non-profit organization that strives to give children in foster care a brighter future, a sense of normalcy and belonging through multiple programs and a network of passionate volunteers. The organization’s Build-a-Bike program helps kids in foster care have something that is such an important part of childhood, their own Huffy bike.

Steven Macias, Donor Relations Manager at Together We Rise said, “There’s nothing like the smile on a child’s face when they see a bike and know it’s for them, and we’re thrilled to partner with Huffy this month because we know that something as simple as a bicycle can really level the playing field for kids in foster care because it gives them a piece of a normal childhood, in an often uncertain circumstance. We’re really excited that in addition to the bikes for kids, Huffy will donate adult bikes so our foster parents can ride, too. Together We Rise exists to create positive childhood memories for youth in foster care and our partnership with Huffy is an avenue in which this will be made possible; creating bonding experiences for children and their families.”
